House of Quinn: An Update
It began not with a business plan or fixed idea — just a pull toward making, and a sense that it might lead somewhere meaningful.
House of Quinn was never about exclusivity. It wasn’t born from wealth or prestige — it came from the need to create. From a boy with a quiet dream to build something bigger than the place he came from. Something rooted in care, in connection, and in the hope that what we make can help others feel a little more at home in themselves. It began as a way of making sense of things — through fabric, through process, through experimentation. Over time, it started to gather shape: not just in the work itself, but in the way others responded to it.
That early instinct — to create slowly and with meaning — still runs through everything. But now, the question is how to hold onto that intention while making space to grow.
House of Quinn has grown slowly, steadily — a one-person practice held up by care, belief, and the support of family, friends, and a community that continues to show up. It’s still small today. And while I’ve carried it as far as I can alone, I know this next phase can’t happen in isolation.
Lately, I’ve been rethinking how people find and connect with the work — how to create a space that doesn’t rely on urgency, or instant clarity, but allows for reflection. Not everything needs to be bought or understood immediately. Some things need room to breathe. I want people to feel welcome to pause, to ask, to begin a conversation.
So, I’ve been building a quieter, more open way of sharing — one that reflects the kind of work I want to do, and the kind of life I want to build alongside it.
The website is evolving to mirror this new shape. Instead of a single store, it will offer three distinct spaces — each one reflecting a way to connect with House of Quinn:
Gallery
A space to share textile and mixed media artworks. This is where process, memory, and form are held most closely. Pieces here are made slowly and offered through conversation, not urgency.
Inventory
A curated collection of found, vintage, and second-hand objects. Thoughtfully chosen and offered as quiet companions to the work — an extension of the materials, aesthetics, and stories that run through the practice.
Make
The invitation to get involved. This is where workshops, my book, tools, resources, and future courses will live — a place to share skills and keep making part of the everyday.
These spaces are about connection at different levels — a way of reflecting the practice without overextending it. A way for people to find what they need, in their own time.
Looking Ahead
I’m still dreaming of a studio space — a place to make larger works, to think and teach, to host others. That dream is closer now, but it isn’t yet within reach. Like so many things, it depends on timing, on support, and on capacity. I’m being careful not to move too fast or stretch too far.
But the intention is there — to grow steadily, to evolve without burning out, and to make space not just for the work, but for myself within it. And as I move toward this next chapter, I’ve been thinking more clearly about the values that hold it all together — the threads that run through every part of the practice, no matter how it changes.
As I envision this new space, it feels timely to articulate the principles that have quietly guided House of Quinn from the beginning.
A Manifesto
At the heart of this practice is a quiet commitment — to care, to process, to material, to meaning. Over time, I’ve gathered these ideas into something clearer: a manifesto for what House of Quinn is, and what it hopes to be.
The House of Quinn Manifesto brings together the principles that guide this work. It speaks of slowness, reflection, and of making with what already exists. It holds a belief that art, design, and craft are interconnected — that making is both process and expression, and that our materials carry stories worth listening to.
It’s not a rulebook, but a grounding — something to return to when things feel loud. What follows are the core threads of the manifesto — the principles that shape how and why I make. They sit beneath everything at House of Quinn, quietly holding it together:
House of Quinn is a multidisciplinary practice where art, design, and craft converge. Exploring process, material, and meaning through the dialogue between traditional craft techniques and contemporary design narratives. We work with what exists.
Reclaimed textiles, found objects, and traditional techniques are transformed into works that balance concept and function. Our process is rooted in exploration. Through making, we construct narratives tied to memory, place, and identity
House of Quinn creates works that invite reflection and foster relationships, shaping enduring pieces that honour the past while looking to the future.
PROCESS // We believe art, design, and craft are interconnected, not separate. Each work is a conversation—a dialogue between material and concept. Craft processes become tools for exploration, where ideas evolve through making, and reflection, and the boundaries between disciplines blur.
EXPLORATION // We make with what we have. Guided by experimentation and resourcefulness, each piece emerges through fundamental techniques and a commitment to discovery. Textures, colour, and form evolve through process, constructing narratives that reflect a connection to materiality and design.
REFLECTION // Our work is rooted in the places we inhabit and the rituals that shape us. Through an intimate dialogue with landscapes and everyday objects, we create pieces that reflect a sense of belonging and continuity.
MATERIAL // We work with what already exists—reclaimed textiles, papers, and found materials. Through stitching, layering, dyeing, and assemblage, we transform these fragments into works that carry their histories forward while offering something new.
AN INVITATION // House of Quinn is an invitation to make, to reflect, and to connect. Through workshops and resources, we share the act of making and the stories embedded in materials, offering a space to explore their meaning and possibilities.

House of Quinn is still a home. One built slowly, with care. One that honours process, invites reflection, and always leaves room to become something more.
