Care guides

Care for your quilts and quilted cushions

House of Quinn quilts and quilted items are handmade from natural textiles. Each item is unique, and the materials have their own characteristics and nature, which over time will wear, soften and add to their personality and appearance. To help your quilt last for a long time we have provided a guide to caring for your House of Quinn items.

Washing Quilts and quilted cushions

For quilts and quilted cushions, we advise following the guidelines provided.

Over time your quilted items will soften and wear with each wash. The natural textiles are hard-wearing but will take on their own characteristics with use. This is normal and should be expected.

We advise keeping dark colours away from light fabrics and surfaces until you have washed them a few times to ensure the colour doesn’t transfer.

Displaying your quilt

We create quilts to be used in the home or displayed on the walls. At checkout, we offer the option of adding a hanging sleeve to the quilt if you are purchasing it for display on the wall. This was you can suspend it from a wooden dowel, easily found in most hardware stores.

If hanging your quilt, try to keep it out of direct sunlight to eliminate fading and give it light dust from time to time to keep the surface from damage.

Care for your wall hangings (not quilted)

House of Quinn wallhangings which are not quilted have been made for display on the wall. These items should not be washed as they have been created to be decorative.

To clean your wall hanging we advise to give it a light dust from time to time. If for any reason you do need to clean it, we recommend upholstery cleaners or where possible use eco-friendly detergent, create suds in warm water and press the suds (bubbles) gently into the wallhanging with a clean white cloth to remove any marks to stains.

Care for your art prints

House of Quinn prints are printed on 315gsm glicee papers which are archival and should protect your print from damage.

We recommend that your print is framed or displayed behind a glass or acrylic sheet to ensure it is dust free.

If you are displaying without glass, keep out of direct sunlight and give the surface a light dust from time to time with a dry duster. Do not wipe with a cloth or apply moister of any kind.
