House of Quinn quilt commissions

All commission work is currently closed for 2022.

All of the quilts made at House of Quinn are one of a kind, made in the studio in Sussex and each piece is created from renewed textiles and cloth.

Commissioning work is a lovely way to work closely with the maker to create a truly personal and special object. When creating collaborative work I like to understand a little bit more about you or the person you may be commissioning work for (if it is a gift) and try to create pieces that bring personal connections and narratives into the item.

You might want to include inspiration from photographs, or personal items. Or you may have textiles and fabric that could be included within the piece.

The commissions created at House of Quinn are always a conversation, and a blend of our house style and design direction and the inspiration and ideas of the client.

House of Quinn is a small design studio and business, which is run by just me. It can get very busy, especially in peak times of the year so I would advise getting your requests in early and I can help discuss expected time frames for creating the commission.

How do we price commissioned work?

It really depends on the request, how much detail goes into the work, how large the commission is and what materials we will be using. Each and every quilt is made by hand and the process can take time.

As a guide ONLY *subject to materials, time and detail:

  • Wall hangings £350 +

  • Everyday quilt (145 x 145) £800 +

  • Throw quilt (145 x 190) £1000 +

  • Bed sizes range from £1200 - £1600 +

How long does a quilt commission take?

It depends on the scale of the quilt and the intricacy of the design. It can vary from four weeks to four months and maybe longer depending on the commission and also how much we have happening in the studio at the time. We can get busy in Autumn as we prepare for the Holiday season and it also gets quite busy in Spring as we look forward to spring/summer workshops and creating new collections of work.
