Hand Carved Wooden Quilt Marker

£34.70

Pre-Order Opens 3rd of August 2025

A handmade quilt marking tool, created in collaboration with Devon-based makers Takahashi McGil, and offered exclusively through House of Quinn.

About the Hera Marker

Originally used in Japanese kimono making, the Hera Marker creases fabric rather than marking it with pigment. Quilters and textile artists often use the tool to guide stitch lines, press seams, fold hems or turn corners.

I use one in nearly every quilt I make. It’s a simple and precise addition to any sewing or quilting practice.

About your order

Each marker is carved by hand using reclaimed offcuts of hardwood — usually Beech or Oak. The tone and grain will vary from piece to piece. Some are pale and smooth, others darker, more figured or deeply marked.
Your marker will be selected at random depending on the materials available. Wood colour or type cannot be chosen.

This variation is part of the process. It reflects the maker’s use of what’s on hand, and our shared approach to working with care, resourcefulness, and intention.

Pre-Order Details

This is a pre-order release. Hera Markers will be made to order in small quantities. After the pre-order closes, the final number will be passed to the makers for production. This process takes around four weeks.

  • Pre-orders open: 3rd of August

  • Orders close: End of August

  • Shipping begins: From Monday 29 September

Thank you for your patience. These are not mass produced items and each one takes time to make.

Made by Takahashi McGil
