The studio
House of Quinn studio, workspace and home
The House of Quinn studio and workspace is based in my home in Brighton, where I work and create all of the work for the House of Quinn collections. Surrounded by textiles, materials, paints, inks and collections of found trinkets and objects that I have collected along the way, my creative space is an amalgamation of a sense of home and creativity. It has its up’s and down, working from home makes it difficult to shut off sometimes and take time to myself to just be.
Creative space is at a premium in Brighton and not all makers are working from beautiful open, inspirational spaces. Craft makers and designers are generally people who can turn nothing into something and young designers do not have the luxury of being able to afford the space to work and design as maybe we expect to see across the contemporary craft world. At the current time, home is a space to create and creating makes me feel at home. House of Quinn is a home for making and experimenting with craft and hopefully one day that home will become a house that more people can experience, learn and be part of.
In the meantime, I wanted to share with you some of the views of the space that I work in day to day. A small peek into my world.
