Baban Quilts

Baban - Cornish meaning ‘Baby’

Baban is the Cornish word for baby and over the last year I have been working on some smaller House of Quinn quilts for the little ones in our lives.

With the help of baby Otto, enjoying his new quilt. I presented one of our newest quilt sizes to some dear friends and their lovely new-born babe. The Baban quilt is the perfect heirloom gift, giving something that will hopefully last a lifetime and become a fond memory of childhood. Each of the Baban quilts are made from natural fabrics. Cotton and linen have been used to create the quilt top, while an organic, fair trade wadding has been added to the middle of the quilt. We all know that little babies make a mess, but this quilt is easy to look after and wash. I have made each Baban quilt 100x100 cm so that it is big enough to use as a matt or over a bed. The size is helpful for those growing years and will be big enough to grow up with baby, hopefully become a snuggly safe blanket which I know from my childhood, I took everywhere.

This quilt that Otto is kindly modelling, was inspired by mid century shapes and colours, collaged together to add some brightness and vibrancy into the nursery. Styled with a neutral interior for the babies room, the Baban quilt will add bright accent quilt to grab the attention of the little people in our lives. More Baban quilts to come, and if you would like to make something special as a gift or for an expecting family please do contact me to talk about commissioning a quilt.
