‘Fragments’ were created during a period of reflection. Looking through past work and subsequent series of remnants and oddments that were left from previous experiments and projects.

I enjoyed the way that glimpses of the handmade marks left on the textiles from printing and painting took on a new perspective. Arranging and rearranging them alongside pieces of cotton and linen, some dyed and some as they are. I built up collages, allowing the pieces to dictate the shapes which led to this series of arrangments. Fragments of ideas, lines, textures, cloth.

Each Fragment is finished with a slim edging of vintage binding which I found on one of my wanderings around markets and second-hand shops. I love the thought that the binding now has a purpose and a home after it may have spent many years sitting in a sewing box, waiting to find its place.

A fragment

A glimpse

A moment

It had a purpose

Once

Again now
